Twenty-five SPN family members and friends gathered on July 18th for a trip to Allentown and a visit to the Da Vinci Science Center, stop number two on the CFLC sponsored Summer Series.
This scaled down version of the Franklin Institute (in Philadelphia) presented a multitude of hands on activities making it the perfect place to take your children for a family outing.
A special exhibit called “National Geographic Presents: Earth Explorers” took us on a series of wild adventures such as coming face to face with a great white shark, exploring the Amazon rain forest and ballooning over the African savannas.
Our children also had fun pretending to drive a jeep, riding in the Gyro Sphere, or feel the effects of being caught in a Hurricane. Plenty of other science experiments dotted both floors of the building.
We were fascinated as we watched the live honey bees in their habitat as well as the antics of a few good sized hermit crabs in the touch tank.
Prior to returning home, many of our younger travelers eagerly escorted mom, dad, or their grandparents to the DSC Curiosity Shop for a last minute souvenir of their trip.
I think it is fair to say that everyone learned something new while having fun at the Da Vinci Science Center.
